Oil Field Pump Jack

An engine manufacturer requested a clutch for use on oil field pump jacks. A clutch was needed to serve two purposes. First, the clutch allows the engine to restart without the load after maintenance is completed. Second, if the oil level of the well falls below the suction tube, the engine is clutched to allow the oil level to recover. Previously, before the clutch was used, the engine either kept running and had excessive wear, or the engine was shut off and then had to be restarted. Read Article

Altra Industrial Motion brands Wichita Clutch, Formsprag Clutch, Bibby Turboflex, TB Wood’s, Matrix International, Industrial Clutch, Marland Clutch and Ameridrives Couplings exhibited at the 2012 Offshore Technology Conference at Reliant Park in Houston. Application Profile: Wichita AquaMaKKs LI-SSB Brake for Diving Support Vessel

Wichita Clutch has supplied AquaMaKKs low-inertia, spring-set brakes (LI-SSB) for use on diving support vessel (DSV) mooring winches. The DSV is used for inspection, maintenance and repair of offshore oil and gas pipelines and platforms. A 4-point, computer-controlled mooring system maintains the ships position over a dive site while compensating for swell, tide and prevailing wind.

AquaMaKKs LI-SSB brakes are installed on each of the mooring system’s four deck-mounted, AC motor driven winches. Read Article
